CURRENT ROLE:
At Living to the Max, I work with Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) clients and their families, providing occupational therapy services to improve their quality of life, safety, and independence. As a community-based Occupational Therapist, I visit clients in their homes and offer personalised recommendations based on their individual needs and goals. This includes home modifications, falls prevention, equipment prescription, pain management, and referrals to other health services or supports.
What I enjoy most about my role is building strong relationships with clients and working with them in their own environments. I love being part of their journey to achieving and maintaining their goals, and I find it incredibly rewarding to see the positive impact that occupational therapy has on their lives and well-being.
In my free time, I enjoy running, exercising, reading, drawing, baking, and caring for my two pet birds.
EXPERIENCE:
I graduated from Flinders University with a Bachelor of Medical Science, focusing on microbiology and nutrition. I then furthered my studies with a Master of Occupational Therapy, which I completed in 2024.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERTISE:
I have experience in the following occupational therapy interventions:
- Home safety assessments
- Falls risk assessments and education
- Home modifications
- Powered mobility prescription
- Continence care management
- Pressure care management
- Assistive aids and equipment prescription
- Activities of daily living (ADL) assessments
PERSONAL STATEMENT:
Previously I worked in a family business creating and teaching art. specialising in birds. I believe that everyone can participate in artistic and creative pursuits at all levels. For me art is part of who I am, and I feel that the field of Occupational Therapy foresters my creative side. One day I would like to bring art into therapy, which I feel could benefit so many clients.
Away from the office I like to spend time with 4 my children and husband. I have may hobbies that are all art orientated. I also enjoy spending time with my menagerie of 4 cats, three dogs, 1 cockatiel and 13 chickens.
I love being active and volunteer at many running events, having once competed in them. I like to participate in the Master Games as often as possible and compete in athletics, from running to the throw’s pentathlon.
Fun fact, on the art front, I am also an amateur tattoo artist.
