Geographical areas covered (OT only): Metropolitan Adelaide and Adelaide Hills. Other areas by negotiation.

CURRENT ROLE:

Something that I love about my job is that no two days are the same, and you never know what you might be doing next. On any given day, I could be organising small aids and equipment to assist with independence in daily activities and personal care tasks, falls prevention and pain management strategies, powered mobility prescriptions, minor and major home modifications and pressure care management. I love seeing the satisfaction and the difference it makes to someone’s life when we can work towards and achieve their goals.

I am also responsible for the portfolio of powered mobility aids. This involves remaining up to date on the latest assessment tools (on road and off road), understanding equipment pros and cons, professional development/training opportunities, changes to road law, transporting scooters and powered wheelchairs and considerations for funding. I was selected for this portfolio as it is an interest area of mine and I really enjoy supporting my clients to achieve safe and independent mobility.

CAREER ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

I graduated from Flinders University in 2018 with a Master of Occupational Therapy and, after a short stint in a residential aged care facility, commenced at Living to the Max in 2019. Prior to that, I completed the Bachelor of Health Sciences (Principles of Occupational Therapy).

While undertaking my studies, I worked as an Allied Health Assistant at Calvary Rehabilitation Hospital, following a clinical placement there. I also completed clinical placements with the Lifetime Support Authority and Novita.

I have primarily worked with DVA and community aged care clients and am now also working within the community disability sector with NDIS participants. I have actively engaged in professional development in the areas of seating, pressure care, brain injury and dementia.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERTISE:

  • Home Modifications
  • Powered Mobility
  • Manual Wheelchair and Seating
  • Pressure Care
  • Prescription of Assistive Technology (AT)
  • Clinical Support/Supervisor
  • Falls Prevention

Personally, I like going on long walks or hikes; the hills are my happy place. I also enjoy cooking and baking and experimenting with new recipes.
