Disability SA equipment scheme

At Living to the Max Occupational Therapy Services, we understand the challenges faced by those with a disability. For many, those challenges are often associated with access to required disability services.

We specialise in the assessment and subsequent prescription of disability equipment and home modifications, including for clients with highly complex needs. We have extensive experience in prescribing Disability SA funded equipment/home modifications and the application process involved.

At all times, our first and foremost priority is to link clients to government funded services. Where however, clients seek to engage private therapy intervention we can, on a fee for service arrangement, provide specialised services for the prescription of government funded disability equipment and home modifications. We can then, as part of the Disability SA equipment scheme, coordinate and prepare the required application for government funded equipment and/or home modifications.

Tracie McInnes, Senior Occupational Therapist, will talk you through the process and the associated fees to prescribe and subsequently apply for equipment/modifications. Tracie is one of South Australia’s leading experts on the prescription of disability equipment and home modifications, including those with highly complex needs. She has 17 years’ experience, including 7 years with Disability SA, and has a strong passion for optimising the physical wellbeing of individuals with permanent and complex disabilities.

Ultimately, we want to ensure you have the necessary information in which to make an informed decision. Likewise, it’s important to note that we are not a disability equipment supplier, nor are we affiliated with an equipment supplier.  To ensure transparency, we specialise in the assessment and prescription of disability equipment and home modifications. The subsequent supply of equipment/modifications is determined by Disability SA. For those that choose to fund their own disability equipment, we can either source several quotes for equipment on your behalf or, if you prefer, we can supply you with details of local suppliers.

Firstly though, if you have not done so already, we encourage you to make contact with the Department of Communities and Social Inclusion to ensure you are receiving all of the government funded supports available to you.
