Maggie Slee

Position title: Occupational Therapist
Office phone: (08) 8331 0566
Geographical areas covered (OT only): Metropolitan Adelaide and Adelaide Hills. Other areas by negotiation.

As an OT at Living to the Max, I work in a collaborative partnership with clients and their families as part of the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (DVA) program.  My role primarily consists of providing a range of OT interventions to support clients to maintain independence and safety within their home.

As an OT working in the community sector, I am able to offer a variety of interventions and recommendations within the clients home. Such interventions include equipment prescriptions, home modification recommendations, compensatory strategies, home safety assessments, falls assessment and education, pain management and referrals to other support services.

What I love most about my role is how I have the privilege of hearing each client’s unique story, whilst utilising my set of skills to work towards improving their health and wellbeing. Occupational Therapy is able to promote such a positive change in the daily lives of our clients, which is what makes the work we do so rewarding.

I graduated from the University of South Australia in 2020 with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy. Following the completion of my degree, I was offered a graduate position with Living to the Max, which I commenced in early 2021.

Throughout my final year of study, I completed a clinical placement at the Specialist Ambulatory Rehabilitation Centre at Modbury Hospital and The Gully – Mental Health Clinical Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program. As well as this I also completed a Participatory Community Practice placement at Suneden Specialist School, where we collaborated with a range of stakeholders to design a play catalogue to support the play engagement of children with a variety of disabilities.
